Nor­mally sold on CD by my-his­tory.co.uk at a cost of £10 (or £8 down­load from sis­ter web­site twr­com­put­ing.co.uk), this pub­li­ca­tion con­tains a wealth of in­for­ma­tion about busi­nesses and trades­peo­ple across in­ter­war Lin­colnshire.

Hand­ily, the di­rec­tory also fea­tures sec­tions on the neigh­bour­ing East Anglian coun­ties of Cam­bridgeshire, Hunt­ing­don­shire, Nor­folk and Suf­folk.

Gen­eral Loft’s Lin­colnshire Notes

Pub­lished by Lin­colnshire FHS, this 610-page doc­u­ment fea­tures tran­scrip­tions of notes orig­i­nally cre­ated by Gen­eral John Henry Loft, who trav­elled around Lin­colnshire record­ing mon­u­men­tal in­scrip­tions, in­for­ma­tion about churches, and lo­cal gos­sip be­tween 1826 and 1844.

Nor­mally £10, the pub­li­ca­tion con­tains ob­ser­va­tions on more than 100 places of wor­ship (in­clud­ing non­con­formist chapels), along­side me­mo­rial in­scrip­tions and extracts from par­ish reg­is­ter. With ref­er­ences to over 2,000 sur­names, it’s a fan­tas­tic re­source for any­one with Lin­colnshire roots.
