PRONI digitises Northern Ireland church collection
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) hosted an introductory event to its new digitised collection of church records on 22 September. Family historians can now browse 313 registers and other important volumes from 15 Church of Ireland and Methodist churches, dating from 1642, on the computers at PRONI’s offices in Belfast. Lorraine Bourke, head of private records at PRONI, told WDYTYA? Magazine that the records had “a huge amount of information that’s of interest to family members and researchers”.
