CURIOUS INCIDENT A curious incident occurred on Wednesday. It appears that a young fellow named Jacobs was in charge of a van belonging to Messrs. J. Maffey and Sons. By some means the bit broke in the horse’s mouth, and Jacobs was trying to adjust it, when the bridle also broke and startled the horse, which bolted. The horse collided with Dr. Pern’s motor car in Winchester-street, over-turned the van, and proceeded on its way with only the shafts, which had been forceably torn away. Finding the stable yard open it marched in. The driver hurried on foot by a shorter route to inform his employers what had happened, and was surprised to find that the horse was there before him.
