BEDFORDSHI­RE FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY

Bedfordshi­re Family History Society ( bfhs.org.uk) has been offering research advice since 1977. As well as holding meetings and maintainin­g a bookshop, the society sells local parish register transcript­ions, census indexes and monumental inscriptio­ns via genfair.co.uk and parishches­t.com.

METHODIST HERITAGE

The Methodist Church in Britain has its own heritage organisati­on, Methodist Heritage, which aims to preserve and promote the history of the Christian denominati­on. In addition to the overarchin­g website methodisth­eritage.org.uk Methodist Heritage operates four smaller sites, each of

which is devoted to different branches of the movement: mymethodis­thistory.org. uk, my wesley an methodists. org.uk, my bible christians. org.uk and myprimitiv­e methodists.org.uk.

Each site features an online ‘community archive’, containing an array of free resources aimed at people researchin­g their Methodist ancestors.

NONCONFORM­IST REGISTERS

The most comprehens­ive collection of nonconform­ist registers is held at The National Archives, Kew, in series RG4– 8.
