CAN YOU HELP?
Free DNA tests are on offer in a bid to trace the English branch of the historic
Clay family. The American Clay Family
Society can trace their ancestry to
John Clay, who arrived in Virginia in
1613 on a ship called the Treasurer.
He acquired a substantial amount of land, and was recorded in a muster roll of 1624 with his wife Ann and a servant. Englishmen with the surname Clay are invited to take part in free Y-DNA tests via FamilyTreeDNA to find out if they’re related to the American Clays. Please email David Clay on dmclay@btinternet.com; write to him at 30 Mill Street, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG18 2PQ; or visit clayfamilysociety.org to find out more.
