Who Do You Think You Are?

Step-By- Step

-

Ancestry.co.uk contains millions of user-submitted trees, meaning there’s a high chance you will find fellow researchers tracing the same ancestors. If you have an active subscription, getting in touch couldn’t be easier 1 Log into Ancestry. Click ‘Search’, then choose ‘Public Member Trees’. Enter your ancestor’s details and click ‘Search’. You will see a list of public trees in which your forebear may appear (some users keep their tree private). 2 Not every user’s research will be correct. Generally, the more sources someone has attached to an ancestor’s profile, the more reliable it probably is. However, the only way to check for certain is to contact the user. 3 To get in touch, click on the user’s profile icon at the top of the page, followed by the orange ‘Contact…’ button to send them a short message. Remember to be patient, and appreciate that not everyone may wish to respond.
