Ancestry has scanned many registers from archives in Dorset, Lancashire, Surrey, Warwickshi­re, Wiltshire, West Yorkshire and elsewhere, and has digitally indexed lots of old finding aids. Links to parish register records arranged by county will be located at ancestry.co.uk/cs/parish.

In addition to its indexes, FamilySear­ch has digital scans of microfilme­d parish registers obtained from various archives. Search for a parish name at familysear­ch.org/search/catalog/ search and click on the ‘Church Records’ list. Scanned collection­s have a camera symbol next to the title and can be browsed online.

FINDMYPAST

Findmypast has scanned many registers from Manchester, Sheffield, East and North Yorkshire, Teeside, Cheshire, Staffordsh­ire, Shropshire, Lincolnshi­re, Norfolk, Hertfordsh­ire and Devon, and has a partnershi­p with the Federation of Family History Societies, which has supplied a wealth of indexes.
