The institute holds probate records for the majority of Yorkshire, including the East Riding, as well as Methodist records for the York Circuit, and Archdeaconry of York parish registers (many of which fall within the boundary of the East Riding local authority).

Among the collections at East Riding Archives are records for the Archdeaconry of the East Riding, which includes Hull and Scarborough, and many other records for parts of modern North Yorkshire that were formerly in the East Riding. Wider collections include nonconformist records, quarter and petty sessions, business records, Poor Law, police, coroners’ inquests, schools, cemeteries, electoral registers, military records, maps and newspapers.

Hull Maritime Museum explores the seafaring heritage of the city and its environs. It is also home to two historic ships, the Spurn Lightship and the Arctic Corsair.
The museum is now closed to the public for the years-long ‘Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City’ project that will see a complete refurbishment of these sites.
