NRO holds registers and other records from more than 700 parishes in the county, alongside nonconformist material and records relating to courts, probate, coroners, hospitals and shipping. In addition, there are records of businesses, societies, voluntary organisations and estate/family records. The archive also has copies of pre-1858 wills proved in Norfolk back to the 13th century.
