Hockey club to re-open for socially distanced training

Slough Hockey Club is looking to reopen its pitches for socially distanced training in the coming weeks as it seeks to bring players back into the fold.

In a message to club members, Daya Nagi from the hockey club’s committee, said the health and safety of the club’s members was ‘paramount’, and said players should be aware of the risks involved if they do return.

The club is also suggesting that members pay £2.50 per session or contribute a £25 one-off payment, to go towards covering the revenue that’s been lost by the club. The sessions will be supervised and run by either a coach/captain or manager, who must take responsibility for social distancing.

There will be no junior training until September at the earliest and no players are able to train with a senior team they are not involved with.

“These are extraordinary times which have impacted us all as well as our club,” said Daya. “Normally during the summer our club would have several different fund raising opportunities (summer league, external bookings etc).

“These funds go towards covering water and insurance which continue to be costs to the club even though we are not playing. With this in mind we would ask that those who can support our club by contributing to these summer training sessions. We know some people have been impacted financially and may not be able to afford much but any contribution is welcomed to get us through this difficult time.”
