Streetwise Tulse Hill steal a march on Maidenhead
Maidenhead HC captain Phil Cowell was left to rue his side’s 3-2 loss to Tulse Hill & Dulwich from the sidelines at Altwood School, admitting they were outplayed by their ‘streetwise’ visitors.

Simkins chalk their names onto the scoresheet.
Having made an impressive start to this year’s campaign, Maidenhead now finds themselves in sixth place in MBBO Division 2 West.
“For the first 10 minutes, we didn’t really get going and found ourselves 2-0 down very early on,” said Cowell.
“They had two chances and took them really well. We came back into it and had a number of short corners but we were really not clinical enough. We pulled a goal back to take it to 2-1 at half-time. But from then on they defended well and hit us on the counter attack.
“In possession, we absolutely dominated the game. They were just very street-wise and sat in quite deep. It was a disappointing loss but we know they’re the sort of results we can turn around in the second half of the season with the team we’ve got.”

in the hosts’ favour with a handful of Cowell’s players currently absent through injury.
The skipper has also been unavailable to play in recent matches and will spend a further six weeks watching from the sidelines after finding out the extent of his injury on Wednesday morning.
“I’ve suffered from the degeneration of the discs in my lower back,” added Cowell.
“I have two bulged discs and an annular tear so it’s likely I will be out for another six weeks or so.
“There’s a few more in the squad that are also unavailable right now but I’m sure we can string some results together soon to push right back up the table.”
