MAC members brave chill wind on the Chilterns
Maidenhead Athletic Club members braved the winter chill to take on the Maverick Adidas Terrex Original Trail Race on Saturday.
Chris Lewington, Linda Szulc, Steve Overbury and Marika Karavan pulled on their MAC vests for the race at Stonor Park in Oxfordshire. There were three distances to choose from, a short 7km run, the middle distance 11km race and the longer 21km event. Each of them opted for the middle distance.
To ensure COVID measures were safely followed runners went off in a staggered start, with each starting individually after collecting their race numbers.
The route took in woodland and some magnificent Chilterns countryside. Some of the runners also had to stop for a large herd of deer to run across the race route. The trails were varied but challenging and the route was well sign-posted.
The final section to Stonor House was through a muddy turnip field and, at the finish, all the MAC members agreed it had been a challenging but fun run.
Chris was the first to finish in 1.09.23, followed by Steve in 1.18.56, Linda in 1.19.33 and Marika in 1.31.17.
