Praise for neighbourhood plan
WINDSOR: A referendum over whether a neighbourhood plan should be adopted in Windsor is set to go ahead in the spring.
At a cabinet meeting last week, lead members gave the green light for the Windsor Neighbourhood Plan to go to a public vote on May 6, 2021, where residents will get to choose whether to adopt it.
The Neighbourhood Plan sets out planning policies that are determined by the community that will help shape developments in the town until 2034.
The plan has been created by the Windsor Neighbourhood Committee over a period of about six years, during which time the public have been consulted on what they would like to see in the plan.
Speaking at the meeting, Claire Milne, cochair of the committee, said: “The plan is truly community led and pays regard to what’s special about our Windsor area and what people told us they want, especially in terms of open space, heritage, design and views which are of particular importance in a town like Windsor.
“We are very proud of what we’ve created and feel it will provide a good framework to assist officers and councillors.”
Councillors at the meeting were complimentary of the plan and the work put in by the community.
Cllr Amy Tisi (Lib Dem, Clewer East) said: “This plan is exciting because it really shows how Windsor is more than just a few streets around the castle.
“Windsor is a wider area that has such a lot of diversity and interests and such a great community at the heart of it.”
