Rugby activity suspended

-

All rugby activity at Windsor RFC has been suspended until January at the earliest after the borough was placed under tier 4 COVID-19 restrictions last weekend.

Chair Helen Crick drafted the club’s Christmas message several times, mindful of the changing landscape with regards to tiers.

At the start of last week Windsor was in tier 2, meaning contact training was still possible for all age groups, however, after spending less than 24 hours in tier 3, the borough was moved into the highest band of restrictions in tier 4 on Saturday.

“This has left us with no option but to cancel all rugby until January,” said Crick. “This means our usual last weekend of Christmas fun cannot now take place. I was so looking forward to Rugby golf.

“When we have more information from the RFU we will update on how and when we can return. This has been one of our strangest and toughest years and I would like to thank all the amazing volunteers who have persevered in ensuring we have the best rugby we can under the circumstances. And to you, our marvellous members, we are not a club without you. Thank you for your continued suppor t.

“There is nothing better than a rugby family and we have one of the best. I urge you all to stay safe and sensible over the coming days and weeks. Remember one day we will be back to normal. Wishing you all a most gorgeous Christmas and New

Year. Enjoy as best you can and remember to keep checking on each other, virtually.”
