Braywood beat Crowthorne & Crown Wood by 239 runs in a lopsided fixture in the Chilterns League Championship on Saturday.
The result maintains the side’s unbeaten start to the season; however, they sit third having played a game fewer than leaders West Reading.
Saturday’s match was as one-sided as they come, with Braywood scoring 3228 from their 45 overs, with Nasir Mehmood hitting an unbeaten 113 and Mohammed Ansar chipping in with 50.
Avinash Singh did his best to hold up the hosts’ charge, taking 3-33, but Crowthorne, who have now lost both of their opening league matches, never came close to challenging.
Just four of their batting line up, Daniel Cartledge, 10, Mike Brundish, 10, Christopher Emes, 10, and Vijay Bhatti, 24, made it to double figures as they capitulated to 83 all out in 27.3 overs. Braywood shared the wickets around as Kamran Hafeez (2-27), Ashan Malik (2-17) and Mohammed Waheed (2-11) each took a brace.
Next up for Braywood is a home game with Shinfield CC at the Turnbull Cricket Ground on Saturday.
In the Chilterns Premiership, Pinkneys Green continued their impressive start to the season with an 87run win over Braywood 2nds.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, the home team managed 231 runs before being bowled out after 45 overs.
Opener Vinay Reddy drove their innings on with 97 runs from 66 deliveries, but fell just short of a century, departing lbw to Raza Farooq (1-27).
Captain, and wicket keeper, Jack Stemp added 48 further down the order and their total proved to be more than defendable against this Braywood outfit. With Saleem Ahmed taking 4-13 and Sam Griffiths chipping in with 337, the visitors were bowled out for just 144 in the 29th over, having been 84-2 at one stage.
Littlewick Green got back to winning ways after last weekend’s opening day defeat to Pinkneys as they beat Knotty Green by 44 runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, the visitors put the pressure on with a score of 256 from 44 overs. Chunky contributions from the likes of Christie Green (64), Tom Maskel (47) and Pete Newman (43no) carried them to a total that Knotty couldn’t challenge. A top order collapse hardly helped, but Mike Widdowson (71) and Jordan Allison
(33) kept them in the hunt for a while before Jake Ling (4-32) and co ended those hopes with some tight and accurate bowling.
Holyport sit top of the Chilterns League Division 1 table after thrashing Pinkneys Green 2nds by 132 runs.
Opener Ghulam Mirza set the tone for the thumping win with an unbeaten 178 from 141 balls. His teammates played well around him as they finished on 333-5.
Pinkneys’ hopes were all but ended by a top order collapse, however, from 51-4, Tanveer Butt showed creditable resistance, scoring 105, but few of his teammates could stick with him long enough to make a game of it. Despite this valiant effort they finished on 201 all out in 38.3 overs.
