It’s as easy as one-two-three for Stoke Green against Dean
Gagan Singh’s men win by a considerable amount of runs to move into third in division
Stoke Green rightfully earned the bragging rights over Cookham Dean at the weekend with a stellar 123-run victory at Ricketts Field.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Green managed 257 runs which was largely contributed to by new signing, and former Pakistani professional, Imran Khan Junior (65no).
Praise should also go to Jamie Odell (40), Simranjeet Singh (44), and Gurveer Singh (28) for their knocks at the crease.
From 50 overs, the visitors surrendered eight wickets, half of which were toppled by Wasim Ahmed (4-33).
In reply, Dean could only achieve 134 runs before being bowled out.
Patrick Castleden (39) and Deswin Currency (29) were the home side’s top scorers in the second innings.
As a result, Gagan Singh’s men take third place in Division 1 but are level on points with second-placed Ickenham and table-toppers Henley 2nds.
Elsewhere in Thames Valley Cricket League Division 1, Burnham lost to Beaconsfield by a slender 14 runs.
Batting first, Beaconsfield managed 236-8 from 50 overs with thanks to U Ijaz (72), Z Ashraf (43), and J Cunis (38). Adnan Malik (4-45), meanwhile, presented himself as Burnham’s steadfast spinner.
In reply, Burnham scored 222 runs before being bowled all out with Udey (67) top scoring with the bat for his side. As a result, they remain second from bottom in the table.
In Division 2A, Marlow marched into second place by beating Amersham 2nds by 58 runs.
Choosing to bat first, James Martin’s men were solid in the attack as Taran Sohi (32), Graeme Paskins (91), and Kester Charlemagne (34) picked up some of the best figures.
Joseph Rance (4-40) tried his best to suppress the onslaught but at the end of the first innings, Marlow had managed 258 all out from 49.5 overs.
Amersham chased down the target well in reply with Adam Francis and Matt Mullock achieving 41 and 39 runs respectively.
However, Imran Nawaz (3-22) and Charlemagne (3-29) ensured Marlow were to emerge victorious in this clash.
At the end of the second innings, Amersham had tallied up 200 runs before being bowled all out.
In a more convincing fashion, Wraysbury trounced Hounslow & Whitton by 154 runs to stay atop of the table.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, the home side obtained a total of 352 runs from 50 overs, surrendering just five wickets.
This was courtesy of the superb Andy Prasad (157no) along with Naeem Baig (66), Arslan Yaseen (31), and Guy Sheena (31).
In the second innings, Rahul Patel looked on track to better Prasad’s efforts with the bat but was eventually caught out, having tallied up 131 runs.
Ultimately, Sheena (3-41) and Waqas Khan (3-9) showed their prowess with the ball, restricting Hounslow & Whitton to 198 all out from 27.4 overs.
In Division 2B, Hurst were able to defeat Royal Ascot by seven wickets and rise to fifth place as a result.
At the crease first, visiting side Ascot managed 206 all out from 49.5 overs, with Harry Watson (49) and Adam Smith (85) top scoring with the bat while Joe Warren (3-38) and Phil Higgs (3-35) went about their business with the ball.
The target proved easy to achieve as James Watt knocked 81 and Lewis Smith knocked 59 with the second innings concluding in 34.2 overs, Hurst managing 207-3.
In Division 3A, Windsor narrowly overcame Thatcham Town by one wicket.
Jamie Young (82) proved to be Thatcham’s best batsman in the first innings as the side achieved 190-8 from 45 overs.
Mike Green bowled an impressive 448 but at the end of the second innings, Windsor had managed 191-9 from 41 overs to move into fifth spot.
Elsewhere in the division, Bagshot defeated White Waltham by eight wickets to drop them into eighth place.
In Division 3B, Maidenhead & Bray were bested by Stoke Green 2nds by a paltry four runs.
Put in to bat first, home side Green scored 163-9 from 45 overs, thanks to Amir Asghar (40) and Raja Ifraz Khan (28).
Maidenhead had optimism in reply but their attempt of reaching the target was slowed by Irham Mughal (423) and they finished with 159-9 from their 45 overs. As a consequence, they slip to fourth.
A position below in the division, Farnham Royal beat Datchet 2nds by 16 runs.
Elsewhere, Taplow (eighth) thumped Purley-on-Thames by five wickets in Division 4A, and Wooburn Narkovians beat Farnham Common (sixth) by three wickets in Division 4B.
