Change in shop front
All areas: Approval sought for a variation at Sea World Fish & Chips
In the public notices this week, a Burnham business is seeking to keep changes to its shop front that differ from what was agreed by the planning authority, while parts of London Road in Slough will temporarily change speed limit for roadworks.
Planning
A retrospective planning application has been put in to seek approval for a variation in an agreed change to a shop front at Sea World Fish & Chips in Burnham High Street.
The site is a grade II listed building. As what was put up deviated from previously agreed plans, enforcement action was taken.
The owner ‘accepts that due to errors in communication between himself and the builder’, a different shop front, floor, wall and fascia were inserted.
The applicant’s representatives, Selsdon Consultancy, said that in its specialist opinion on grade-II listed buildings, what has ended up there is ‘not such a deviation’ from what was approved.
“The shop front in the approved scheme was not of architectural significance and not worthy of listing in its own right,” Selsdon wrote.
Nonetheless, there is one objection letter that the new shop front ‘does not complement the high street layout’.

Traffic
Meanwhile, Slough Council is looking to temporarily change a speed limit on parts of London Road and Sutton Lane from 40mph/30mph to 20mph.
If made, the order would begin at midnight on Monday, July 11 and expected to finish at 11.50pm on Friday, September 16.
