Readers pick tournament favourites
The 2016 European Championships in France start on Friday night with millions around the world set to tune in.
We took to the streets to ask our readers if they would be watching and who they would be backing for the tournament which was won by Spain in 2012.
Wishaw man Joseph Farrell is adopting a stance which many Scots will be this summer.
He said: “I’m looking forward to it, I’ll be watching as many games as I can.
“I think you’ve got a few strong nations this year but I’ll be supporting anyone but England.”
Patrick Reynolds, from Cambusnethan, is tipping the World Cup holders for Euro 2016.
He added: “I think Germany have got to be favourites this year.
“I believe they’ll win it but you can never rule out the countries which always make it far in the tournament like Spain and Italy.
“France hosting the tournament could help them as well.”
Lacey Hayes says she will be watching but not as much as other people in her family.
She said: “My big brother really likes football so he’ll be watching it all the time. I’m not too bothered by it and I don’t know who will win.
Englishman Stuart Chidley said: “I will be supporting England of course but I don’t think we’ll win it.
“If Scotland were in the tournament I’d want them to do well but I can understand why some people don’t want England to win.”
