Masked men at Bluebell Wynd
Police have issued a warning to those living in Wishaw’s Bluebell Wynd to be on their guard after two masked men were spotted in a garden in the early hours of the morning.
At 3.50am on Thursday, June 2, the pair were spotted by a resident of the street who had woken up and looked out of a window.
Police were called but the would-be villains had made their escape.
Constable Steven Bryson said:“The person involved had got up and just by chance looked out of the window to see the two individuals in masks.
“Police are investigating but we would urge residents in the street to take the proper precautions regarding their property.”
Meanwhile, police were this week on the hunt for an opportunistic thief who broke into a Wishaw house in broad daylight and stole a substantial amount of cash.
Officers were called to the home in Bell Street last Wednesday after a terrified resident returned home from a shopping trip to discover a glass pane on her back door was smashed and a four figure sum of money was taken.
Police confirmed to the Wishaw Press that the woman had left her home at around 11.10am and returned less than a hour later to make the shocking discovery.
Constanble Bryson added:“At this stage we have still to make a positive identification of the individual.
“I would encourage anyone has seen or heard any suspicious activity in that area on the day in question to contact police immediately.”
Residents in the street expressed their shock at the news.
One resident, who asked not to be named, said:“This type of thing comes as a real shock.
“I have been here for over 15 years and we’ve never had any problems although there has been a couple of break-ins over the last few years.”
