Alzheimer’s partnership
Wi s haw police have initiated a partnership with Alzheimer’s Scotland for Lanarkshire Division to become the first dementiafriendly division of Police Scotland.
Ins p e c t o r A l i s t a i r Anderson of Wishaw Police Office said: “Lanarkshire Division is proud to be working in partnership with Alzheimer’s Scotland as we strive to be recognised as the first Dementia Friendly division in Police Scotland.
“The dementia friends information sessions are a great opportunity to increase officer awareness when engaging with people who are living with dementia in our communities.
“Th e i n f o rma t i o n sessions have been well received by our staff who are now better informed and knowledgeable, which will allow us to deliver a better service to those living with dementia.”
Lorna Hart, Dementia Advisor, Alzheimer’s Scotland, said: “We have been delighted with the response and involvement from Police Scotland’s Lanarkshire Police Division during our dementia friends information sessions.
“Police Officers perform a vital role in our communities and by working together we can take very important steps towards making our communities a better place to live for people with dementia and their carers.
“Police Officers across the community will now have more awareness and confidence to help members of the community affected by dementia going forward.”
