MP Marion will show pupils around Houses of Parliament
Motherwell and Wishaw MP Marion Fellows will meet pupils from three schools in Westminster to allow them to experience the work of a MP in Parliament as part of an educational visit to London.
Youngsters from St Aidan’s High in Wishaw, along with Fir Park School and Taylor High in Motherwell, will visit the UK Parliament during June.
The children will be taken on a tour of Westminster and given an insight into the inner workings of Parliament and the life of a MP.
Marion said: “Ever since the referendum, young Scots have taken an active interest in politics.
“Only last month 16 and 17- year- olds were able to vote in Scottish elections for the first time and from my experiences during the campaign, their interests have not dampened.
“I am excited to meet young pupils to show them just what it is their MP does on a daily basis and also a few interesting sights on the Parliamentary estate that is full of history.
“I am hoping that inviting our local pupils to Parliament will keep them interested in something that affects every part of our dayto- day lives. And perhaps inspire some of them to seek a future representing their local community.
“Hopefully, there will be more opportunities in the future to meet more pupils.”
