William Colquhoun Memorial LOL152 will hold their monthly meeting this Thursday, June 2, in the senior citizen centre at 7pm. Members should take their district prize draw books and must advise the secretary if they would like a meal at the event on July 9. WM William Clelland asked all members to attend this meeting. Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church There has been an encouragin­g response to the inclusion of signing and electronic note taking of the services of worship at the church, with many views online either live or by catch-up on You Tube on their website at dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk. Come along on Sunday morning and share in the worship which is now fully inclusive for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. On Sunday afternoon at 3pm a short service will be held in the lounge at Glenview Court and will include the celebratio­n of the sacrament of communion, which is open to all. The Kirk Session meet on Thursday, June 16, at 7.30pm and again the following week, along with the Congregati­onal Board on June 23 at 8pm, with the Board meeting at 7.30pm that evening. Sunday, June 26, at 3.30pm will be the final Messy Church before the summer break. The theme on this occasion will be ‘Journeys in the Bible’. In line with normal practice, a meal will complete the afternoon and will be served about 5.15pm. If the weather allows this will take the form of a barbecue. No charge will be made for this event, but people must register on the website if they intend on attending. An American brunch will be held after morning worship on Sunday, July 3, with all proceeds going towards the cost of a planned new sensory garden for the church grounds. Admission will cost £3 for adults and £1.50 for children. Following the practice of recent years, a summer holiday club will be held at the church each Sunday morning at 11am. with lots of fun and games and activities. Each week one of the miracles of Jesus will feature in the story time. All are welcome. Kirknowe Care Home will hold an afternoon of activities this Saturday, June 11, with live entertainm­ent between 2pm and 4pm and plenty of stalls including a raffle, tombola and home baking. Tea and coffee will also be on offer. Courses North Lanarkshir­e Council’s Wishaw and Shotts lifelong learning team have a range of free learning programmes for adults, with short employabil­ity courses on CV preparatio­n, preparing for job interviews and job searches. These courses will be held in Newmains Computer Suite in School Road on Mondays at 9.30am to 11.30am. Personal developmen­t course will start in Pather Community Centre, Caledonian Road, Wishaw, on Thursdays from 1pm to 3pm. Digital inclusion course will start in Cleland Library on Mondays, 2pm to 4pm. English support classes, adult literacy and numeracy support classes and SQA-certificat­ed introducti­on to computer courses will be held in Newmains, Pather, Shotts and Harthill, as will a Discovery award for the over-50s.
