Circle Dancing visit town

-

An interesting dancing group visited Carluke recently.

Members of Circle Dancing came visited the town to take part in the annual event.

The dancers were joined by five experienced ladies from Milngavie who helped make the dances flow.

The group visited countries around the world by dancing to music from the Middle East, The Balkans, Greece, the USA, including a trip to Hollywood by dancing to‘Singing in the Rain’.

The aim of the session was to introduce the joy of dancing together. Unlike many other forms of dancing the majority of Circle Dances involve holding hands.

This helps everyone beginners and experienced dancers to feel the energy and support of the circle.

In circle dancing there are no mistakes merely variations.

Circle dancing is very beneficial as it is light to moderate rhythmical exercise and good for your memory and co-ordination.

Member Jo Freeman told the Wishaw Press :“The participants in Carluke said they found the experience enjoyable, meaningful and uplifting.

“Circle Dancing is a wonderful way to have fun and make new friends.”

To enable more people to join, six further sessions took place from Wednesday, April 27, to Wednesday, June 1, at the St Andrew’s Church.
