It wa s b a c k - t o - b a c k championship racing for Cambusnethan’s Ross Maguire as he took part in the British Minibike and FAB tournaments.

The 11-year-old was in action in round four of the British Minibike Road Racing Championship in Suffolk, a track he had only visited once before.

However, the youngster started well as he qualified in pole position for the Aircooled races and second in the Junior production class.

In the Aircooled races Ross got off the line and into the lead by the first corner in the two races. He led from start to finish, riding faultlessly and extending his lead as each lap passed.

In the first junior production race Ross and fellow Scottish rider Jack Hart pulled away from the chasing pack.

Jack put Ross under some pressure in the first race, but Ross held him off and took the win at the chequered flag.

In the second race Maguire pulled away at the front and again led from start to finish, winning the race by five seconds at the end of the ten laps.

Four wins from four races means Ross extends his lead in the Aircooled class and is also leading the Junior Production British Championship after four rounds.

The following weekend, Ross headed south again for the Fab British championship at Rowrah in Cumbria.

The UK Championship race will take place at Rowrah later this month and the 11-year-old was using the race as a warm-up for the event.

In the Aircooled class Ross’s bike was down on power but he still managed to qualify in fifth place.

Despite trying his hardest in the three races Ross brought the bike home in a disappointing seventh.

He then went on to finish 23rd and seventh again.

Ross’s engine has been sent to a specialist for a rebuild before the UK round in a few weeks.

In the Watercooled class Ross qualified in fourth after his clutch broke during qualifying. In the first race he took the lead with three laps to go after cutting inside the second place rider on the final corner.

With a lap to go fellow Scottish rider Adon Davie took the lead, on the final corner of the last lap Ross tried to cut to the inside of Adon but his rear tyre lost grip and he was thrown from his bike.

He was narrowly missed by the third placed rider and despite injuring his hand he pushed his bike over the line to take third place.

In the second race Ross took the lead early on but on lap three he lost the front into a downhill corner and crashed off the track.

He rejoined near the back of the field but fought through to seventh place.

In the last race as Ross and his two fellow Scots broke away at the front but, with three laps to go, Adon Davie crashed in front of Ross and he couldn’t avoid hitting him.

After remounting Ross rode the last few laps with a broken handlebar and came home in seventh place again.

Ross next races on June 19 at Rowrah for round three of the U.K. Minimoto Championship.
