United in player search

Newmains United are searching for players ahead of the new season.

With Kevin Muirhead taking over at the club, he is looking to add players with Junior experience to the squad for the upcoming season.

Newmains finished ninth in the Central District Second Division last season and are looking to build on last campaign.

New boss Muirhead, who was appointed last week, said:“I spoke to all the players and 10 guys committed themselves and said they are happy to get on board, which is great.

“We’ll have plenty of trialists coming in as well so we can look at them and see what we need and where.

“We’ll be looking to use some of the younger players as well as it will help us develop them but with the team setting up an amateur side that is great too.

“This now means we could have the possibility of bringing players up from that team and into the Junior side.

“The most important thing though is first seeing what I have in the squad and we can make any decisions after that.”

Newmains United’s amateur side are also looking for players for the upcoming season.
