to the Englishman and would have faced Calvin McCord – who he had beat earlier this year – in the final.

Springhill head coach Frank Delaney praised both competitors for their efforts and congratulated Scott on his win.

He said: “Scott has been superb because he’s currently in the process of moving house so it has been harder for him to find time to train.

“He’s moved further away but he still manages to produce the goods and he was superb.

“He’s made the jump up in weight look easy and that’s not always the case so it’s brilliant to watch.

“He fought Stephen Jamieson in the final and it was a good fight between two good Scottish boys which was great to see.

“He beat Cheavon Clark from England in the semi-final and that was a really comfortable fight and Scott looked extremely relaxed for it.

“Josh was unfortunate in his fight as he would have wanted to win, but it was always going to be a tough fight.

“It’s always hard and he lost out on points and you always feel like these decisions could go either way.

“Josh will pick himself up for training though and get back into it for the next tournament because he is keen and enthusiastic.

“The good news for all the boys competing is that they are all young and there is plenty of time for them to get even better.”

I might have to carry more weight and move about with it but I feel a lot more comfortable with it
