Overtown Parish Church Communion services will be held in the church on Sunday at both 11am and 3pm. There will be no 6pm service this week. There will be a creche if required for younger children, and the OK Club and B Club will be on as usual, meeting in the church hall at 10.50am and enjoy a mixture of stories, games, singing. crafts, painting and drawing. Old and new members welcome. The clubs will be rehearsing this Sunday morning for their forthcomin­g Thanksgivi­ng service on June 26. School aged children should come along to the rehearsal at 9.45am. There is something for everyone to do. For more informatio­n on the clubs contact K. Crichton on 01698 360580. All visitors to the church will be made welcome. Line dancing class continues today (Wednesday, June 15) with beginners and refresher class at 12.30pm followed by the full class from 1.15pm until 2.45pm. All ages and abilities will be made welcome. Holiday club Once again the church are holding a holiday club for children during the school holidays, starting on Tuesday, July 26 until Friday, July 29, from 10am until 12 noon. It is an opportunit­y for children to come along and participat­e in games, crafts, group work and fun, based on some of the most well known Bible stories, and this year they will all be given a circus twist. Then on Friday evening, July 29, there will be a barbecue for the children and their families, and a special church service on Sunday, July 31, starting at 11am. It is hoped that many of the children taking part during the week will come along with their parents. The club is open to any child who will be due to start Primary One after the holidays up to and including those in Primary Seven. Attendance at the club is free and any informatio­n provided on the consent forms will be treated in confidence. Friendship group held a successful “Overtown’s Got Talent” concert in the church last Friday evening. All the guests were welcomed into the church by piper Taylor Dunbar and the Anchor Boys got off to a roaring start, followed by the OK Club and B Club 7 and Overtown Primary School. The youngsters’ harmonies and performanc­es on the night were thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience. This was followed by two beautiful renditions from Anna Crichton of Clyde Valley High on the saxophone, before David Cooper sang some well known folk songs adding his own humour. He was followed by his fellow Clyde Valley pupil Katy Ramage, who performed two lovely songs and the Sand Seas and Music group, who played guitars and sung songs, whose harmonies proved to be exceptiona­l. The first half of the show was rounded off by four ladies from the women’s group called the “Overtown Babes” with their hilarious rendition of “All Things Bright and Beautiful”. The second half of the show got off to a rousing start with Ellie Thomson and Bethany Murson playing their trumpets to “Strolling” and “Ragamuffin”, and were followed by Overtown Primary School who sang a further two songs. The Sand Sea and Music group then came back on stage and sang a further four songs, before the compere announced the appearance of a special guest. Billy Clark dressed as the Pope then came on stage fully togged up and looking the part, then came forward and took his place on the pulpit. He was followed by the ladies of the women’s group dressed in nun’s habits, who treated the audience to songs from the musical “Sister Act”, followed by a dance routine around
