Drugs worth £4k down his trousers

-

Police seized a plastic bag containing drugs worth around £4000 taped to a Wishaw man’s underwear at last year’s T in the Park music festival.

Perth Sheriff Court was told last week that 23-year-old Callum Neason had been“acting in an agitated state” as officers, along with a sniffer dog, carried out checks at one of the gates to the campsite.

He then dropped a black sports bag and made off, depute fiscal Rebecca Kynaston told the court.

“Officers gave chase and the accused was apprehended. He then stated he had drugs in his trousers.”

Officers discovered a number of blue and white ecstasy capsules with a street value of £2740, as well as crystals which were later tested and found to be Alpha-Pyrrolidinopentiophenone.

It was worth between £1040 and £1300, according to the fiscal.

Neason admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A and B drugs at the Strathallan event on July 9 last year.

A solicitor said his client wasn’t aware of the value of the drugs at the time and he had now“learned his lesson.”

He urged the sheriff to consider a community-based disposal.

But Sheriff Fiona Tait said the court had to“take a very serious view”of the supply of drugs - and a“deterrent”had to be imposed. She jailed Neason, of Beaully Crescent, for 18 months.
