Gala day The committee send out a huge vote of thanks to everyone who helped to make this year’s gala day event a great success. The weather stayed dry and the parade was bigger than ever. There were lots of activities on the park for all the family and everyone had a great time. EU Congregational Church On Sunday, the morning service will be held in the church at 11.30am. Singing group meets each Tuesday evening at 7pm. Lodge St John 471 Meetings are now finished until September 2. The RWM thanks members for their attendance during this term. Bon Accord Club The club are taking new bookings, so get in touch if you’d like to hold an event there. There is bingo every Wednesday and Friday evenings and a cabaret every Saturday night in the lounge. The function hall is available to hire for events. For more information, contact the club on 01501 821542. Salvation Army Corps On Tuesday, the friendship club meets from 1pm to 3pm. On Thursday evening, the prayer meeting and Bible study meets at 7pm. The Sunday morning meeting will begin at 10.45am, and will be led by Lieutenant Luke Reading. All other groups and clubs are now on holiday. 32 Social Club Entertainment for members and friends is as follows: Monday night bingo is at 8.30pm. On Friday, July 1, Dykehead Sons of William Flute Band will take part in the Battle of the Somme centenary parade. Everyone is asked to assemble at 6.30pm to move off at 6.45pm and proceed to the war memorial for the act of remembrance wreath laying. The parade will then return to the hall for their centenary night celebrations with the Black and Tans. Tickets are still available from Darren Gardiner or from behind the bar. Ironworks Bowling Club members Lilly and Liz will play their first game of the season at Northfield Bowling Club in Ayr on Thursday, July 28 at 9am. The club is running a bus to take members to the game and names are now being taken. Anyone who would like to go along to this event should put their names on the sheet asap, which can be found on the club notice board. Thursday night will see the usual bingo, with dancing to Bill McFarlane on Saturday night and a game of promiscuous played on Monday night. Community council meets on the first Monday of the month in the Community Centre in Kirk Road at 7.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend. Fundraising group is a group comprised of members from various groups throughout Shotts who are interested in sharing information and best practices on how to apply for grants and funding. The meetings take place in the Station Hotel on the second Thursday of the month at 7.30pm. The next meeting will take place on July 14. All are welcome. Shape Up Shotts meet on the first Wednesday of the month in the Congregational church hall. If you’d like to help make Shotts a better place to live, do come along.
