Two years’ jail for sex beast
The father of an eight- year boy sexually assaulted in a Wishaw pub toilet said he will never forgive the paedophile who robbed his son of his innocence.
Twisted Graham Murray, 38, was jailed for two years for launching the sickening assault on the child in The Wishaw Malt, Kirk Road, on November 13.
In an exclusive interview with the Wishaw, Press, the victim’s dad, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said: “My son’s innocence is gone and I will never forgive that man for what he has done.
“He’s a vile, sick individual who should be locked up for the rest of his life.”
The family of an eightyear boy sexually assaulted in a Wishaw pub toilet have broken their silence after the twisted paedophile who robbed their child’s innocence has been jailed.
The youngster’s father spoke out after pervert Graham Murray, 38, was sentenced to two years behind bars for launching the vile assault on the boy in The Wishaw Malt pub, Kirk Road, on November 13.
The victim’s dad, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told the Wishaw Press his once confident, outspoken son has been left traumatised and is terrified to be by himself.
“His innocence is gone and I will never forgive that man for what he has done and took away from my son,” he added.
“He’s a vile, sick individual who should be locked up for the rest of his life.
“My son has lost all trust in strangers.
“After it happened he was paranoid. He would scream and shout saying men were staring at him.
“He was scared the same thing was going to happen again. His life has been turned upside down.”
The youngster was at the Wishaw Malt for dinner with his gran on the night of the attack.
He was forced to give evidence via video link after fiend Murray, of Hillfoot Drive, Coltness, denied the charges.
His dad added: “The fact that he denied it made the situation 10 times worse.
“We all know what he did, he know’s he did, yet he still continues to deny it.
“He’s calling my son a liar and has made him relive the sick incident over and over again. He showed no remorse and continued to terrorise my family until he was found guilty.
“I’m glad the sheriff found it serious enough to impose a custodial sentence. At least it gets him off the streets for a few years and helps keep more children safe.”
And the boy’s mum added: “My son is doing better and is getting his confidence back now Murray is behind bars.”
The jury heard how Murray followed the boy to the toilet, instructed him to open a cubicle door, repeatedly banged on the door, attempted to force entry, placed the boy in a state of fear and alarm and induced him to open the cubicle door.
He then entered the cubicle, instructed the boy to be quiet, attempted to engage him in sexual activity, tried to kiss the boy and handle his body as well as pretending to another person that he was his son and then made sexual remarks towards him.
A short time later, witness Stephen Todd entered the toilet and asked what was going on.
Murray claimed he was the youngster’s father but the boy said he was not. Murray then ran off.
Sheriff Alasdair MacFadyen commended the bravery of the young boy and Stephen Todd’s actions in looking after the child.
He said: “Mr Todd saved the child from enduring more from you.
“Your actions will have a massive impact on the child as he grows older. You have forced him to lose his innocence and trust in strangers. It was a disgraceful act on an innocent child.”
Murray was placed on the sex offenders register and had his sentence extended for a further two years.
