‘Catch-up’ plan with pal Nicky when in town

-

Westlife star Shane Filan is set to perform at Motherwell Concert Hall this October as part of his solo tour called Right Here.

In the wake of the huge success of both his Right Here tour in early 2016 and the album, the Irish pop sensation will be giving fans the opportunity to see him perform Westlife favourites as well as his own recent tracks.

Shane spoke of his plans for the year and how he is excited about performing in Motherwell Concert Hall for the second time.

He said: “I am really excited about playing at the Motherwell Concert Hall again. The buzz about the place is just unreal and the crowd the last time was just so fantastic. I am really looking forward to going back there.”

Motherwell is also the home town of X Factor finalist Nicholas McDonald, a former pupil of St Aidan’s in Coltness, whom Shane met during his time as an advisor to X Factor judge Louis Walsh. Shane then went on to sing a duet with Nicholas in the live finals in 2013.

Shane revealed he and Nicholas have remained friends since X Factor and they will hopefully get the chance to meet up when he gigs in Motherwell.

He said: “It would be good to catch up with him in Motherwell. The last time I played there he came along and at one point was even up on stage with me. He also came along to my Glasgow show the last time too. He is a great boy, it would be good to see him.”

When asked if Shane would be making a return appearance at judges’ houses this year on the X Factor Shane said he would love to do it but hadn’t yet been asked. He said: “I haven’t heard anything about it at all. Louis is my manager so if he asked me of course I would do it. Louis is the type of person that would say, okay you have judges’ houses in two days and that would be that.

“The judges’ houses are so emotional. In St Tropez when Nicky was performing, I just broke down. There are cameras everywhere but you just can’t help it. The atmosphere is just so intense.”

As this is Shane’s second solo tour he decided to get his fans involved in the organisation process and let them help decide on the venues.

He said: “The first leg of the tour was such as great experience and we have had so many requests for more dates that we thought we might as well give the fans what they want. We put out polls on Facebook and Twitter to let them help to decide on the venues.”

During the first half of his tour Shane took wife Gillian and kids Nicole, Patrick and Shane.
