Bonny hammered by Cairn

-

Gartcairn .............. 8 Shotts BA ............. 1 Shotts succumbed to the worst defeat in the club’s history as they were simply blown away by a superb display of passing and clinical finishing from the Airdrie men.

The Super First Division outfit fell behind early on when Gary Millar stroked home from close range.

It was 2-0 shortly after when Millar pounced after great work from strike partner Jordon Love.

Millar went on to add a third and fourth before the break with the Cairn midfield and defence dominating all over the park.

Millar took only six minutes of the second half to score his fifth in what can only be described as a phenominal competitive debut. However, his team-mates were laying opportunities on a plate for the lively hitman.

Shotts pulled a goal back with a penalty when Danny McGuiness went down in the box,

Mark Duffy stepping up to smash the ball home.

However, Chris Dolan restored the five-goal lead shortly after.

Yami Messanjo then entered the field and again the Shotts defence had no answer to the attacking football on show from the Cairn.

Messanjo added two, one a penalty, to make the final score 8-1.

Shotts entertain Wishaw on Saturday in their final League Cup section match. Kick-off is 2pm.
