Busy time at Dalzell Bowling Club

-

It has been a busy few weeks for members of Dalzell Bowling Club.

For the Seniors, it was the culmination of the Top 10 competition at Houldsworth Bowling Club in Wishaw where Dalzell faced off against the home team.

Keith Hird was up against last year’s Scottish Seniors champion Peter Jones and following an impressive contest, Peter ran out a 21-8 winner.

Houldsworth also won the triples competition and picked up a victory by one point in the pairs.

Finals day will take place at Houldsworth Bowling Club this Saturday at 2pm.

Dalzell’s Division One and Division 16 teams played rearranged games last Wednesday on a sun-kissed evening at the club.

Division One were against Lesmahagow and the games went well with Stuart Simpson always in control and grabbing an easy win.

Mark Naughton likewise got a great result despite burning five ends and playing the last three in the dark with Dalzell winning by 20 shots.

In the final match John Simpson fell to a narrow defeat but a good four points secure Dalzell’s place in Division One for next year.

On Saturday afternoon, Dalzell crashed out of the Lanarkshire Top Ten tournament with a quarterfinal defeat to Lesmahagow.

Friday Night is Race Night at Dalzell Bowling Club, with members raising funds for a defibrillator which was purchased this year. All are welcome with the first race taking place at 8pm.
