Shotts idle after downpour

-

Maryhill ................ P Shotts BA .............. P Shotts Bon Accord manager Kieran McGuinness is hoping his side can use their break over the weekend for recovery purposes.

Friday night’s clash with Maryhill was postponed shortly before kick-off due to a downpour hours before kick-off.

Despite the best efforts of the ground staff at Maryhill, it was all too much for the pitch but the Shotts gaffer hopes his side can use the break to their advantage.

He said:“We’ve had a couple of bodies missing so far and we’ve not had it easy.

“I’ve not had the chance to have all 17 of my squad available for one match yet. But we’re not using it as an excuse and we still want to compete.

“It’s going to take some time to settle down but hopefully in the next few week’s it will start to get better.

“We didn’t arrange anything else for the weekend because I think with our injury worries and players needing time to recover it wouldn’t have been wise.

“We’ve got a tough game this weekend against Shettleston and we know all about how good they are.

“They’ve got Peter Weatherson up front and a lot of experience in Ryan McStay but we’re confident we can go and give them a game.

“We know we’ve got enough quality to compete with the top teams despite missing a few players.”
