Craigneuk’s very own Eddie Lee, who was dubbed the Scottish Simon Cowell, was rushed to hospital after collapsing at The X Factor bootcamp.

Eddie, of Glencelland Road, suffered pains in his chest after being sent home by his doppelganger Simon Cowell - who described his final performance as really bad.

51-year-old Eddie started to feel faint and collapsed in the paramedics room at Alexandra Palace, London whilst waiting for an ambulance.

After undergoing tests at the hospital Eddie was told he was suffering from severe dehydration.

Now back in his hometown and in full heath, Eddie told the Wishaw Press he is not ready to hang up his mic just yet.

He said: “Obviously I’m disappointed not make it through to the live shows but I’ve had a great time.

“The X Factor was a wonderful experience for me. I met some lovely people.

“Appearing on ITV was great platform and the exposure I’ve had has been amazing.

“I’m still confident I’m going to get something out of it. Fingers crossed record companies have been watching and will take a chance on me.

“I didn’t feel great at my final audition. It was really warm and there was so much pressure.

“The doctor told me she was surprised I was able to perform given how poorly I was but I’m not one to give up.”

Last month viewers watched as Eddie entered the audition room wearing one of TV’s Mr Nasty’s signature outfits - black high waisted trousers and a white shirt- and sporting a very similar hairstyle.

Stunned Simon told Eddie: “You are very handsome Edward.”

To which he replied: “Thank you Simon, I’m often mistaken for you.”

As the rest of the judges Louis Walsh, and Nicole Scherzinger laughed off the resemblance, Simon said: “I can see that.”

Eddie complemented Simon’s dress sense and even gave him a gift - a Simon Cowell bobblehead.

Eddie added: “After my audition Simon came over and thanked me for the banter.

“He was in good spirits and was laughing away. It was a surreal experience.”
