Changes to bus services during rail bridge works

Until August 17, 2017, Station Road in Shotts will be closed to facilitate the replacement of the rail bridge at Shotts Railway Station.

As a result, First have had to implement a revised route and timetable on Service 56 in order that they can provide a reliable service.

Service 56 buses heading to Shotts will be diverted from Shotts Works Corner to run via Benhar Road, Calderhead Road, Shottskirk Road and then operate a one-way loop within Dykehead via Baton Road, Minard Road, St Catherine’s Crescent, Balloch Road, Vennechar Street, Claunie Avenue, Dyfrig Street, Station Road and Shottskirk Road and then return via Calderhead Road and Benhar Road to Shotts Works Corner where buses will continue via normal route to North Motherwell.

As a result, when travelling on the one-way loop within Dykehead, people will get on and off the bus at the same stop on the same side of the road - please see the route diversion map for the stop that will suit you.

First say it has been necessary to implement a one-way loop system in order that they can keep to the service timetable due to the length of the diversion in place.

Bus Stops on Hillhouseridge Road, Bon Accord Crescent, Station Road (at Shotts Station) and Station Road (at/ opposite School Street) will not be served - please see route diversion map for details of your closest alternative stop. Between Stane and Hillhouseridge service 266 will be diverted both ways via Benhar Road, Calderhead Road and Shottskirk Road to Station Road. Service 266 will not operate on • Station Road between Benhar Road and Windsor Street • Hillhouseridge Road • Bon Accord Crescent between Windsor Street and Hillhouseridge Road

On Station Road, between Windsor Street and Shottskirk Road, passengers should board the bus on the opposite side of the road from normal when heading towards Springhill, Wishaw and Hamilton.
