from bad to worse for Chris McGroarty’s men in the second period as they searched for an equaliser but were hit by a sucker punch two minutes from time.

Lee Nichol doubled Bellshill’s lead as they looked set to cruise towards all three points.

However, a Paul McGeogh strike in the dying seconds gave the visitors a glimmer of hope but they failed to find a second and made it two defeats on the road.

Now Wishaw will get a break from league football as they take on Cumnock Juniors in Saturday’s Scottish Junior Cup.

Wishaw will face a reunion with old manager John McKeown as they take on the Super League first side looking for a repeat of last year’s cup run. McKeown managed Wishaw for three years between 2011 and 2014 before heading to Cumnock Juniors to take over the Super League Premier side.

Back in October 2014 McKeown left Beltane Park with Paul McColl as his number two and was replaced two weeks later by current Wishaw manager McGroarty.

Speaking at the time, McKeown told the Wishaw Press: “People might think it has come early for me as I haven’t been a boss long but when someone like Cumnock comes calling it’s hard to say no.”

The Nock were promoted from the Super League First last season and are expected to bring a big crowd to Beltane Park.

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £3 for concessions while kids will get free entry for the game which is a 2.30pm kick-off.
