Man arrested and drugs discovered after cops raid Wishaw home in crackdown on dealers

Police in Wishaw have arrested a man following a drugs raid in the town.

Officers searched a house in Dimsdale Crescent, Wishaw at around 8.05pm on Tuesday, October 11.

They recovered a quantity of drugs believed to be cannabis with an estimated street value of £9,000.

A 46-year-old man from the Wishaw area has been arrested and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Inspector William Jeffrey said: “These recoveries demonstrat­e our determinat­ion to crack down on drugs in our communitie­s, and we are always grateful for any assistance the public can give us in relation to this.

The Wishaw raid was one of three raids across Lanarkshir­e as police targeted drug dealers across the county.

Cannabis plants worth an estimated street value of £6,000 and cash were seized from a house in Motherwell’s Arran Road on October 11 at around 3.35pm.

A 50-year-old man from the Motherwell area was arrested and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A house in Uddingston was also searched on the same date and police say they recovered a quantity of drugs believed to be heroin and diamorphin­e.
