Cleland News Play park upgrade plans get backing

Support switch- on Community council support

-

Residents were this week urged to support the Christmas Light switch-on in Cleland.

The event will be taken Saturday, November 19, from 1pm.

A spokesman for the community council said: “We depend on the resident’s of Cleland’s support, in making this a great family day out. “If anybody can donate raffle or tombola prizes, we would be delighted to receive bottles, toiletries, sweets, any unwanted (recycled) gifts etc.

“Without your support this event would not go ahead.

“Any donations can be handed into any member of the community council.

As you can imagine it takes a lot of time and effort arranging this day. So can we ask, if you have any prizes, they are dropped in before Friday, November 4.”

Any home baking please can be handed into the Senior Citizen’s Hall on the day.

The community council would like to thank you for the generosity you have shown us in the past.

Me m b e r s of the commu n i t y council includePed Ferguson, Robert and Janice Arnott, Margo Young, Louise Roarty, John Daly and Margo Pearson. schools wrote me a letter speaking about issues like child obesity and how this would help to tackle that. Neighbours nearby support it and it is an existing play park so there will be only new equipment.

“I had to apply via a community group and get people to fill out a survey and get back to me with letters from children.”

Community councillors took a vote and supported the proposal. If the application is successful, the new equipment could be erected next year. It is understood Parkside area are also looking to upgrade the play park there. Concerns were raised about the drainage to the play park in the centre of Cleland during the meeting.
