Wiz of a show at Dalziel High

-

School Show

This year the S1 - S4 pupils of Dalziel High School present ‘The Wiz’, a retelling of Frank Baum’s classic novel ‘The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz’.

The 1975 Broadway production won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The plot is very similar to the original ‘ Wizard Of Oz’ featuring the brainless scarecrow, the heartless tinman, the cowardly lion and, of course, the yellow brick road.

The Dalziel High School cast will help audiences to ‘ Ease On Down The Road’, encourage them to ‘ Believe’, celebrate a ‘Brand New Day’ and finally think of ‘Home’.

This is a tale with lots of laughs, wonderful musical numbers and a truly happy ending.

The production is the culmination of many months of rehearsal and commitment from a strong cast supported by dedicated staff and technical teams. The school show production is on from Monday 10 October - Thursday 13 October. Our annual school show is a wonderful opportunity for pupils with different interests and skills to contribute and work together whether it is through performing on stage, producing scenery and props or managing sound and lighting. Scottish School Road Race Championships

On Wednesday, October 5 a group of 30 pupils from S1-6 travelled to Falkirk Stadium to take part in the Scottish Schools Road Race Championships.

Much to the delight of the pupils it was a rather fortunate day weather wise, staying dry with the odd burst of sun throughout the day.

Each race was packed with over 100 entrants from across Scotland, some of whom compete at a high level but this did not faze the Dalziel pupils all of whom tried their best and gained an invaluable experience from taking part in such a big event.

Well done to all who participated. PTA Supports Netball Club

Dalziel High School netball teams would like to thank the PTA for presenting them with a cheque for £300 to buy new netball dresses.

The dresses have been purchased and were worn at the S1 and S3/4 opening games against Caldervale a few weeks ago.

Both team won their games convincingly in their shiny new dresses!
