Robotics club prepare for schools competition
North Lanarkshire Road Safety: First and second year pupils from the Braidhurst High School Art and Design Department are entering this year’s North Lanarkshire’s‘Road Safety Calendar’ competition. As part of the competition, pupils are expected to produce slogans to illustrate a positive road safety theme and develop an accompanying visual idea to illustrate their work. All pupils have thoroughly enjoyed laying out their poster ideas and are hoping to be successful when the time comes for judging the competition.
Robotics club: Pupils of the Braidhurst High School Robotics Club enjoyed a visit from two lecturers from New College Lanarkshire, Michael McGuire and Lisa Richardson, who were invited to deliver a master class on Vex robotics virtual programming.
The study of robotics involves all aspects of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and the club has been running for three years and now has interested pupils from S1 to S6.
All members of the club have been working hard to get their robots ready for the regional competition that will be held in the college campus next year where they will compete against other North Lanarkshire schools.
Mr Hussain, the teacher who runs the club, said: “I am very grateful that the college has supported us to help develop new skills for the forthcoming competition.
“I am also very proud to have Lisa Richardson mentor my all-girl robotics team”.
