Netherton Methodist Church afternoon tea will be held in the church this Saturday, October 22, from 2pm to 4pm, admission costs £3. Come along and enjoy a great afternoon of tea and scrumptiou­s cakes. Innerwheel Club of Motherwell and Wishaw President Margaret Keeper welcomed members and guests to the meeting held in the Mooring Hotel on Tuesday of last week. The special guest for the evening was district chair Margaret Russell, who brought greetings to the club. Margaret had done her research and gave the members some well known and not so well known history, facts and figures of the towns of Motherwell and Wishaw. Her annual visit always provides the members with informatio­n on the aims and ambitions of not only the district, but that of the Great Britain and Ireland and Internatio­nal Innerwheel clubs. The district rally for this session will be held in the Barony Castle Hotel on May 23 next year with the annual general meeting held in the Moffat House Hotel on June 7. The club were given details of this year’s GB & I club president’s nominated charity BEAT, which gives support to people and families who experience eating disorders. Details of the upcoming charity night were discussed and Catherine St John, leader of the entertainm­ent committee answered questions and confirmed that everything had been organised and arranged and she was confident that this would be an enjoyable and successful event. This year the club has booked the Bearsden Fiddlers for a musical charity evening in South Wishaw Parish Church on October 28, at 7.30pm. The group is well known for providing toe tapping evenings of wonderful Scottish music and all members are invited to come along. Tickets cost £7 and will include light refreshmen­ts. All the monies raised from the evening will be donated to local charities. Tickets are available to buy from club members or at the venue on the night of the event. Dalziel St Andrew’s Parish Church The Congregati­onal Board will meet in the church this Thursday evening at 7.30pm. All youth and adults groups will meet at their usual times. Plans are being made for members to travel to Clincarthi­ll Parish Church in Glasgow on October 27, to share in the ordination and induction of assistant minister Stuart Love. Anyone wishing to travel to this event by bus is asked to speak to Janette Black at the church. On Monday evening the men’s club welcomes Andy Devlin as their guest speaker with a talk on reporting sport. The sisterhood, on Wednesday afternoon, will hear all about arts and crafts from Mrs Janet Halley and Guild members are reminded that the service of rededicati­on will be held in St John’s Parish Church, Hamilton on Thursday evening at 7.30pm. The Guild will welcome Graeme Smith as speaker with his talk on the Air Ambulance Service On October 25. Registrati­on can be taken via the church website for the Messy Church event on Sunday, October 30, starting at 3.30pm. The event is open to all young families and includes crafts and activities, concluding with a meal at 5.15pm. There is no charge made for attendance and all are welcome. This year’s Christmas craft table top sale will take place on Saturday, November 5, starting at 11am and tables, priced £10 each, can be reserved by contacting Alex Baird on 01698 262915. Teas, coffees, home baking and hot filled rolls will be on sale in the small hall during the sale. Sunday worship is open to all from 11am and includes signing and electronic note taking for the deaf. The service is also streamed live via the church website at dalzielsta­ndrews.org.uk.
