Kieran and Ross celebrate success Wishaw racers pick up wins at UK Champs
Two Wishaw racers were on top form this weekend as they lifted silverware in the UK Championships.
Cambusnethan’s Ross Maguire took part in the Cool Fab British Championship before joining Kieran Grigor in the UK Minimoto Championship.
Kieran grabbed a second place trophy for his efforts in the Junior C category and finished third in the Lightweights at Kartstart in Kirkcaldy.
Grigor was knocked off his bike in the second Lightweight race but bravely hopped back on to secure third and will go into the final round looking to improve his final position.
As for Camby kid Maguire, he was in action at the iconic Mallory Park near Leicester for the Cool Fab Championship.
Ross rode in the Buildbase BMW team colours for the first time since signing for the team and did them proud showing great pace straight on a circuit he had never been to before.
By the end of day Ross had qualified almost a second faster than his nearest rival on his liquid cooled bike and was also the fastest rider in the Aircooled Pro class by almost the same margin.
Despite being on pole position for both classes Ross would leave the others to battle it out in Sunday races and return north for Sunday’s UK Minimoto Championship to join Grigor.
Ross started where he left off at Mallory by grabbing pole positions and Ross still leads the Adult Open Class and has won the Junior B and Featherweight Championship with one round remaining.
Ross’ delighted dad David said: “I couldn’t be prouder of how Ross has rode all year up and down the country over the many miles we’ve travelled.
“I hope he can add the Adult Open class to the titles he’s just won this weekend but it will be tough against the strong opposition.
“Ross would like to thank his sponsors for all their help this year.”
The last round of the UK Championships – which will officially crown Ross as champion in at least two classes – will take place on November 27.
