It’s that time of year again to get in the festive spirit with Christmas tunes blaring everywhere you go.

From your car radio to the shops, you won’t be able to avoid hearing the festive hits from through the years.

Before the general public become sick of hearing all the Christmas songs we took to the streets of Wishaw to ask residents what their favourite anthem is.

Mandy Somerville, from Wishaw, had a hard time deciding.

She said: “I like the majority of Christmas songs and they’re always good to hear at this time of the year.

“I think I’ll pick Bing Crosby’s White Christmas as my favourite.”

Husband and wife duo George and Margaret Duncan had a hard time finding an answer.

Margaret said: “I think Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl is the best Christmas song.”

Duncan disagreed and opted to go for a classic.

He said: “I’ll pick Merry Christmas Everybody by Slade.”

Finally we stopped Clare McNeillie with her daughter Lucia.

Lucia is getting ready to celebrate her first Christmas and mum Clare revealed she had some inspiration whilst wrapping her presents.

She said: “I’ll pick Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens because I listened to that the other day as I was getting everything ready.”
