Cambusneth­an Old and Morningsid­e Parish Church The third Advent service will be celebrated in the church on Sunday, December 11, at 11.30am, led by Rev Iain Murdoch and includes carols and readings for Christmas. Sunday school and creche will meet during this service. Anyone requiring a pastoral visit or interested in joining the church should speak to the minister or contact him on 01698 384235. The service on December 18, will be the nativity play and Christmas celebratio­n with the children from the Sunday school also taking part. A Christingl­e service will be held at 6.30pm that evening to which all are invited. The Christmas Eve carol singing in the streets will start at 10.20pm from Tinto Crescent with a walk through the parish to the church halls for hot drinks served from 11pm, followed by the Watchnight service at 11.30pm. There will be a short family service on Christmas Day at 11am. The joint new year celebratio­n of the Lord’s supper will be held on January 1, in Cambusneth­an North Church at 11am. The lunch club meets on Fridays, from 11.30am to 12.45pm, new members welcome. Contact Irene Anderson at the church for details. The Boys’ Brigade meet on Mondays for Junior section (P4-6) from 7pm to 9pm and Tuesdays for Anchor Boys (P1-3) from 6pm to 7pm in the large hall. The Company section (P7-S6) meet on Fridays at Coltness High School from 7.15pm to 9.15pm. Girls’ Brigade sections meet on Wednesdays, with Explorers from 6.15pm to 7.15pm; Juniors 7pm to 8pm and Brigaders 7.30pm to 9pm. The Guild will next meet on Tuesday, December 13 for their Christmas dinner and this will be the last meeting of the group until after the new year. The mother and toddlers group meet on Wednesday mornings and anyone looking for a place should call at the church hall between 10am and 11am to speak to the leaders. The men’s club meet on Wednesday evenings at 7.15pm in the games room. New members welcome. The Thursday club meet in the small hall at 2pm. The choir will be at Park Springs Care Home for a Christmas carol service on Thursday evening, and their next practice will be on December 15. Bubblegum and Fluff fun presentati­ons are being held with the local schools: Cambusneth­an PS on Thursday, December 8; Newmains, St Brigid’s and Morningsid­e primaries on Wednesday, December 14, in Coltness Memorial Church halls. Volunteers are required and anyone interested should contact the minister on 01698 384235. Wishaw Brigade Band carol concert (BBs and GB) will be held in Wishaw Old Parish Church on Sunday, December 11, at 7.30pm. All welcome. The church sanctuary is undergoing extensive remedial work which will take some time and be a costly affair. A fundraisin­g group has been establishe­d to raise funds for the repairs and refurbishm­ent. Donations can be made directly to the minister or session clerk. Anyone wishing to help the committee with fundraisin­g should speak to the minister or Graeme Vincent, session clerk.

Newmains

The Newmains and District gala day Christmas party takes place on Saturday, December 10, in the NCT Centre from 7.30pm to 12.30am. Struthers Pentecosta­l Church are holding their regular outreach meeting on Wednesday, December 7, at 7.30pm in Newmains Community Centre.
