With Christmas over and done with, attention now turns to the new year and to what 2017 will have in store for us all.

Many of us will have our own New Year’s resolution and whether it is to give up cigarettes, exercise more or improve your career prospects there will be plenty hoping to stick to their own for the next 12 months.

We took to the streets of Wishaw to find out what our readers will be looking forward to and if they have any resolution of their own.

First up was Anne Law who said: “I’d like to give up, or at least cut down, on the money I spend on scratchcards.

“Hopefully I will get a big win before the new year and I won’t have to bother anymore.”

Anne’s son Ian Fearon said: “For me it is giving up the fags.

“I have cut down and I am down to about 10 a day so I’m going to try and get off them completely.”

Samantha Adam is aiming to be more health conscious in 2017.

She said: “I want to try and eat more healthily and cut down on crisps and sweets.”

Meanwhile, friends Pamela Moffat and Olivia Milewska have very different resolutions.

Pamela said: “I want to try and get to the football more this year.

“I’m a Motherwell fan but I have struggled to get to games because of work.”

Olivia added: “I want to try and stay in shape for my holiday to Ibiza.”
