Erin’s off to final of teenage pageant
Schoolgirl hopes to earn place at Florida event
A Wishaw schoolgirl is aiming to travel to America to take on the world by winning a teenage beauty pageant early next year.
St Aidan’s High pupil Erin Low reached the final of Miss Teen Galaxy Scotland and is already looking forward to the grand final, which will be held in the Park Hall Hotel in Lancashire in March.
Should 16-year-old Erin win the top prize, she will travel to Florida in July to compete for the top prize with girls from all over the world.
Erin, of Gilchrist Way, said: “I’m so proud to have been selected as a grand finalist and I am looking forward to meeting the other contestants.
“It was a surprise when I was picked but it’s something that I am going to enjoy.
“It would be a real dream to win. The chance to go to Florida is a one in a lifetime opportunity.
“My friends and family have been incredibly supportive. I have never done anything like this before so it is really pleasing to have got this far.”
Erin will not be the only local lass aiming to pick up a Miss Galaxy title at the finals.
Cleland beauty Chelsealeigh Bannatyne, 22, has been shortlisted for the final of the national award for the older aged Miss Galaxy Scotland.
Earlier this year, Wishaw woman Emma Bain headed to Orlando to represent Scotland at the Miss Galaxy International Finals.
Emma was crowned second runner-up at the prestigious pageant.
Erin’s mum Angela is delighted by her daughter’s success. She said: “I’m really proud of her. “It is great for her to be given an opportunity like this.
“When Erin was younger she had quite low self esteem so for her to do something like this is a real surprise.
“Doing something like this is great for her confidence and it would be great if she could get all the way to Florida.”
