St Aidan’s festive concert smash hit
St Aidan’s High School continued their long-standing tradition of a Christmas concert last week.
On Monday, December 19, the music department held their outstanding concert which was praised by staff and audience members.
This year’s spectacle featured the school’s senior, junior, swing and samba bands, playing traditional Christmas songs such as Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer, Jingle Bells and Winter Wonderland.
There were also some well-known movie songs such as the Star Wars and Home Alone themes, as well as the Polar Bear Necessities. It featured pupil and teacher choirs and solo singers Margaret Kelly and Katie McCrum. Band member Jordan Stevenson said “it helped to give the audience a merry little Christmas”.
In all, 250 people attended the night of music, including acting head teacher Ms Connelly who said it was “excellent entertainment”.
The next day, the talented pupils hosted another concert, this time for the old age pensioners of the community.
All involved enjoyed the afternoon of upbeat music, and took part in singing and a little bit of dancing. Many of the attendees had grandchildren in the school or their children had attended the school previously.
Acting head teacher Ms Connelly said: “The concert for the community afternoon was great, and it was brilliant to see so many members taking part.”
