2016’s best of the rest
On a personal note, there have been numerous highlights this year I’ve been fortunate enough to attend in a working capacity.
Being in attendance at the SSE Hydro when Ricky Burns became Scotland’s first three-weight World Champion was special.
Seeing everybody stick around following the fight to watch Charlie Flynn in action was also an indication of how popular the Newarthill man is.
Motherwell Civic Centre held a darts exhibition back in April which featured the world’s two greatest darts players – Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson.
Interviewing the duo was a pleasure and even though they turned down the offer to play myself and Wishaw Press reporter Ross Thomson (presumably through fear they would be embarrassed) , it was a great moment.
Even as recently as the start of the month, I witnessed one of the most entertaining Scottish football games in ages, between Motherwell and Celtic.
The Lanarkshire derby back in September was great too as was the Wishaw Juniors v St Roch’s game – sometimes a controversial game can be a good one.
Here’s hoping that next year I’ll be fortunate enough to witness many more great moments.
One of the most common things I am asked is‘Why did you not cover that?’
It’s simple, the only way to guarantee something in the paper is by getting in touch and letting us know!
So I encourage everyone, no matter how big or small the achievement is, to contact michael.temlett@trinitymirror. com or tweet us @PressSport.
