Food appeal boxes

-

Food Hampers Every year the students and staff of Saint Aidan’s work hard to bring some extra Christmas cheer to the local community.

One annual event that is going from strength to strength is the appeal which goes out to all of our students to collect food that goes into festive hampers for distribution to pensioners in local parishes.

Students bring in their donations and everything is brought together and organised through the tireless efforts of our fourth year citizenship class, led by teacher Elisabeth Hynes.

Boxes are wrapped in Christmas paper and the donations are sorted and organised to make sure each hamper becomes a real Christmas Treat.

Over a hundred boxes are now ready to be delivered in the community to help provide some extra festive cheer. Helping the Homeless Fifth year students in Saint Aidan’s have been using their talents in an innovative way to support the Talbot Centre for homeless men.

Each fifth year RE class was given just £20 of start-up money to fund an enterprise that would raise money for charity and the students excelled themselves in the creative methods in which they put the funds to use.

The result was hundreds of pounds worth of fundraising that has been used to provide the residents with a personal care package of toiletries.

The packs are ready for delivery and will be taken to the centre by a group of the school’s senior students in the last week of term.

This provided a timely Christmas gift for the residents of the centre and was greatly appreciated.
